Back to school excitement was multiplied by four in one Irish household on Thursday.
Quadruplets Tom, Luke, James and Charlie Kelly had their first day in Junior Infants - and their doting mum is beyond proud.
They have joined their older brother Matthew, who is in Senior Infants, at Cappagh National School, Co Offaly.
Mum Anita, who is a part-time nurse in Mullingar, told how the house was full of emotion before they set off.
She added: “The excitement is big here, they’re very excited boys.
“They’ve been good, they’re usually a bit madder but everything has gone to plan this morning.
“I’m a little bit sad to see them go, my babies are going to school. It’s a big day for us. It’s been a lot of work, no different to other kids I suppose but when you’ve five smallies, you kind of have to do everything for them.”
The quads are in school from 9.20am to midday, so Anita has escaped having to pack four more lunches – for now at least.
She told RTE Radio One she has a support network.
Anita added: “There’s always help, great grannies, great
neighbours; everyone has been brilliant.”
“It’s a great day and it’s a great day for Cappagh School.
“We’re not looking forward to the homework but sure it has to be done.”
