Excitement builds ahead of Stewartry Agricultural Show's return on August 4

Excitement is building ahead of the return of the most popular event on the Stewartry agricultural calendar.

Stewartry Show will make its long awaited return at Greenlaw on the outskirts of Castle Douglas on Thursday, August 4, after the coronavirus pandemic saw it postponed for the past two years.

The best of the area’s livestock will be on display and there will be some fantastic entertainment, including the Vander Brothers Wheel of Death and Stewartry Dog Agility Team.

Stewartry Agricultural Society president Sam Hutton said: “We are delighted to be holding the show once again at Greenlaw after a two year gap.

“We have been heartened by the strength of support shown in the farming and wider community to get the show up and running again – in particular our main sponsors Wallets Marts, all of our section sponsors and in addition this year we are hugely grateful for the support from the Galloway Glens Scheme.

“Local shows are a key part of he rural community. Whether you are in farming or not, we hope to see you on the day.”

Anyone who can help out at the show – either before August 4 or on the day itself – should email stewartryshow@btinternet.com
