Excited Ryan Tubridy says RTE's Late Late Toy Show brings out his inner 'Christmas Eve child'

Ryan Tubridy captured the mood of the country this morning in an excited update ahead of this week's Late Late Toy Show.

The RTE star told listeners the week of the Toy Show "brings out the Christmas Eve child in me", as the country looks ahead to a programme Tubs has promised will be "epic".

We're all on tenterhooks ahead of a Toy Show that looks likely to be like no other, given that it's taking place in the midst of a pandemic that's devastated the country for almost nine months now.

The 47-year-old is clearly as excited as anyone about the prospect of the Toy Show, and got in the mood this morning with one of his famous Christmas jumpers.

"This is going to be an exceptionally crazy week," said Tubridy.

"I was up at the crack of dawn this morning, with the excitement of it all. Such is the nature of it all – it brings out the Christmas Eve child in me, anyway.

"We are very, very excited – all over the place."

Tubs has promised to reveal details this week of exactly how the Toy Show will work in the era of masks and social distancing.

For the most part, he's kept his cards notably close to his chest – though the ever-mischievous presenter hasn't been able to resist dropping a few hints here and there.

With the advert now doing the rounds on social media – after charming the country when it first aired on RTE's Six One news last week – Tubridy is now well and truly in Toy Show mode.

He's taken a number of days off in recent weeks as preparations for the big night continue apace.

And last week, the Dubliner gifted a number of exclusive Penneys Toy Show pyjamas to brave families in Ireland and beyond, after a touching series of phone calls from households battling on through the many challenges thrown at them by the coronavirus pandemic.
