Excited Edinburgh Hearts fans camp outside Tynecastle all night for Scottish Cup Final tickets

Scores of football fans camped overnight on Thursday outside Tynecastle Park for a last ditch attempt at securing match tickets.

As the Rangers vs Hearts game at Hampden Park approaches next Saturday, supporters flocked to the Hearts football club to get their hands on tickets.

The highly anticipated game will see the crowning of the winners of the Scottish Cup Final.

Many were seen wrapped up in sleeping bags and sitting on collapsible chairs as they waited all night for the ticket office to open at 9am.

One woman was even prepared with a waterproof cover surrounding herself and her chair.

Dee Murphy decided to camp overnight in her sleeping bag to make sure she had a chance of securing some rare tickets. She said: “We decided to camp outside the stadium to try and get some of the final 600 tickets that were going on sale at 9am this morning.

“It was a lot of fun, everyone was really friendly and one guy even bought 30 McDonalds hot chocolates and boxes of Krispy Kreme's for others queuing in the cold.

“A couple of younger lads were kicking a ball around outside the club. It was a nice atmosphere.”

While Dee was lucky to secure her tickets, some left empty handed after their long wait. She added: “I was about 30th in the queue when we arrived at 10pm last night but the guy at the front of the line had been queuing since 10am that morning.

“We managed to secure some tickets but there were hundreds queuing and not enough tickets for the amount that turned up.”

Many had wanted to attend the game but as season holders have first priority to games at Hampden stadium, 600 tickets were allocated to Rangers and to Hearts FC for local supporters.

The club announced on Twitter that the tickets had sold out just after 12pm. They said: “SOLD OUT! All additional Scottish Cup Final tickets have now been snapped up. Thank you all for your incredible support - see you at Hampden”
