A place in the Euro 2020 final - against Italy at Wembley Stadium on Sunday - is at stake.

England could make their first major tournament final since 1966 tonight.

Crowds are building at the Fan Park at Event City in Stretford, Trafford.

In Manchester city centre tonight, some supporters are wearing England-themed hats, while others have red and white painted on their faces.

Three Lions shirts are standard for the night.

Pals Adam Southern, Danny Dangerfield, Lewis Garrett and Alistair Forrest were pictured waiting for kick off at The Brotherhood in the city centre.

"It's coming home," they told the Manchester Evening News.

In the Northern Quarter, meanwhile, footie fans Tom and Luke said they were 'nervous and confident in equal measure'.

"The anticipation is killing us," they said.

Fans with their fingers crossed enjoying an early beer - or two - in Cane and Grain said: "It's going to be a hard game - but it should be ours."

Fans packed the Crown and Kettle - and supporters were also gathering over at Stevenson Square as the countdown to the game began in earnest.

Over at Event City, thousands are expected to gather to watch the game on a big screen.

One group of fans even took along a cardboard cut-out of Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate.

Claire Bagshaw and her family, from Bolton, predicted an England win.

"It's history isn't it," said Claire.

"We might not see this again so fingers crossed everything goes our way."

They went for a 2-0 win for England.

Lets hope that by 9.45pm - or later should there be extra time and penalties - the prediction is right and a carnival atmosphere descends on the city again.
