Exceptional Ange is pure Real Madrid as mystic Hotline regular warns Michael Beale a Rangers nightmare is brewing

Heralded Ange Postecoglou is the man of the moment at Celtic Park after leading his team to two-in-a-row. And the Hoops faithful just hope that moment doesn’t prove to be fleeting as the suitors from down south begin to circle.

Mark McBrearty, Dumbarton, said: “I fear the worst at the end of the season when big Ange gets that call from one of the Premier League clubs. Spurs, Chelsea, Southampton and Leeds will all be calling for the big man but really he should be holding out for the Barca or Real Madrid job! But Stephen Mulhearn, Dumbarton, expects the Hoops gaffer to stay put, saying: “Ange Postecoqlou was correct saying he isn’t in the same ballpark with Jock Stein. However, he has Celtic playing the most entertaining football seen at Celtic Park since the great man himself."

“And with Michael Beale’s honeymoon period now over, the bad news for Rangers fans is he’ll still be at Celtic next season testing himself in the Champions League and not fire-fighting relegation with the Premier League clubs he’s being linked with down south.”

Paul McCormack, Coatbridge, added: “Laughed in the door by the majority of the media. ‘Away by Christmas, not good enough, no authority,’ they said.

“Well how foolish do the 'experts' look now? Ange is a class act on and off the park. He's embraced Celtic and Celtic have embraced him - and now he's embracing his second league crown, with a Treble in touching distance. And still, 'we don't stop'... Congratulations to Celtic and our exceptional manager!”

Steve McSherry, Uddingston, emailed in: “Celtic have become a juggernaut that is unstoppable. We are miles ahead of the rest both on and off the field and will get even stronger over the summer. This is ominous for the trailing pack.”

Rangers fan Tom Vallance and his ‘asterisk years’ jab at Celtic’s title triumphs during the Ibrox club’s lower league exile from Monday’s Hotline continues to stir a reaction with his fellow callers. Jason McLaughlin, Greenock, rang up to say: “In response to Tom Vallance claiming 2011-2017 being known as the asterisk years, does this same logic apply to his own club’s success in the 90s when Celtic were finishing behind Aberdeen, Motherwell and Hearts? He sounds like a man petrified of losing the title deeds to the ‘world’s most successful club’ nonsense.”

Alex Russell added: “A certain element of the Rangers support is bordering on delusional. Now we have these ridiculous claims that Celtic's 11 league wins in 12 years doesn't count as the Rangers were liquidated in 2012. It seems that a vast majority of these have developed selective amnesia and that liquidation never happened. It’s pathetic really.”

Relieved Celtic fan Brian McDermott, Maryhill, called to say: “Delighted to hear caller Chris Lowe back banging on about Celtic as usual. I was getting a bit worried as we hadn't heard from him since the semi-final. Glad to see he hasn’t followed Douglas Park, Ross Wilson and Stewart Robertson in jumping ship.”

Gordon Lyon, Bearsden, called to take a pop at Willie Collum after his shift on VAR duty at Tynecastle, saying: “Even when Willie Collum isn’t actually the ref, he still had to have the main influence on a game.

“His VAR intervention killed the Hearts game as a contest and whilst Celtic would probably have been too good even at 11 v 11, the game was over from that moment on. Whether in the middle or in the office, Willie just has to have the last flush!”
