Excellent Cardiff City player ratings as defender a colossus and Ryan Allsop the penalty hero

Ryan Allsop 8

Docked a mark for conceding the penalty, but my word made up for it with a great save from the spot-kick. Also made a decent stop from Sammie Szmodics earlier.

Mahlon Romeo 6

Looked bright before having to go off midway through the first half.

Perry Ng 7

Moved to right back after Romeo's exit but did as well as you would expect. Got forward late on and helped the attack.

Cedric Kipre 9 (star man)

Another colossal performance from the centre-back. Stepping in to intercept, gliding with the ball, shrugging off tackles. Great again.

Niels Nkounkou 6

Made some fantastic, slaloming runs with the ball at his feet. Really exciting. But a couple of sloppy passes, too.

Ryan Wintle 7

Didn't see as much of him as we would typically, but still very calm and careful with the ball at his feet. Solid outing.

Andy Rinomhota 8

Back to somewhere near his best. Covered so much ground and ticked play over nicely in midfield, too. Good to see him confident on the ball, too.

Romaine Sawyers 5

Was very quiet. The game just seemed to pass him by a little. Looked off the pace and needs to get back up to speed again like his early performances.

Callum O'Dowda 8

Another really positive outing for the winger. Defensively so sound and so trustworthy with the ball going forward. Was key to City's drive upfield.

Sheyi Ojo 6

Has his detractors but at least he looks to excite on the ball. He loses it too often, yes, but he continues to try and skip past markers and make something happen.

Callum Robinson 8

Like a whippet running about that forward line and comfortably looked City's biggest scoring threat. A number of first-half chances were squandered though.

Subs

Jack Simpson (Romeo 23) 6 - Was careless to give up a chance when he first came on and didn't overly fill you with confidence. But improved later.

Mark Harris (Ojo 62) 8 - What a strike for the winner. Absolutely hammered it into the corner of the net.

Joe Ralls (Sawyers 62) 7 - Injected a bit of bite into City's midfield late on. Much needed.

Jaden Philogene (O'Dowda) 6 - Had one mazy run but made a real hash of his effort.
