The Aaron Rodgers saga took another turn Monday.
Was it unexpected? No.
Was it exciting or what we’ve been waiting for for weeks? Also no.
Did that stop NFL coverage from jumping to red alert on a pending Rodgers trade to the New York Jets? Absolutely not. But I still don’t blame anyone for being prepared.
That’s because the initial report featured longtime pro football commentator and analyst Trey Wingo maintaining that a Rodgers-Jets deal was “done.” If someone with as much pull as Wingo was saying this out loud, it certainly felt like the news of Rodgers moving to New York would officially be out in the open not long after.
But it wasn’t. (Not that anyone should be surprised.)

With NFL Network personalities in a full-court Rodgers press, Jets fan Rich Eisen clearly had enough of the waiting around 5 p.m. Eastern time. He more or less pleaded for anything tangible, anything of value in Rodgers’ situation. Unfortunately, reporters Judy Battista and Mike Giardi couldn’t help.
This ensuing exchange is probably a perfect encapsulation of all of us — not just Jets fans — waiting for a merciful resolution on Rodgers’ future.

Woof. That last point might hit home hard for Jets fans. If they somehow miss out on Rodgers, who’s left at quarterback? They put all their eggs in a basket to acquire the four-time MVP. If he doesn’t wear their uniform, the Jets are in a horrendous place.
From this perspective, one can undoubtedly understand Eisen’s localized frustration.
