For many people, Christmas trees are put up on December 1 - or for some keen fans of the festive season, weeks earlier - but many people stick to the more traditional dates. According to Christian tradition, Christmas trees should be put up at the beginning of Advent, which is the fourth Sunday before Christmas.
Christmas trees are usually taken down on the final day of the Christmas season; the eve of the Epiphany. This is 'the Twelfth Night', which typically falls on January 5 - though this can vary depending on whether people count Christmas Day as day one or not.
Still, according to superstition, it's bad luck to leave your decorations up after January 5 - this belief comes from the times when people would decorate their homes with ivy and holly.
If you're keen to follow tradition, then you should take your Christmas tree down on January 5. When will you be taking your tree down? Let us know in the comments section.
