Households in Leeds are being told to prepare for a seventh consecutive council tax increase.
Leeds City Council has announced it is looking to increase council tax by 3.99 per in 2020, due to high demand for services, rising costs and government funding cuts.
The increase is expected to be approved in February 2020 and then come into effect in April.
The council says around 2 per cent of the next council tax increase will be dedicated to adult social care funding. It is aiming to raise an extra £6.6 million to meet rising demand for care in the city.
However, the Labour-run council, which has lost around £266 million of funding since 2010, states that people in Leeds are still charged less council tax than their counterparts in most other major cities, including Liverpool, Manchester and Newcastle.
If the 3.99 per cent increase is approved in February, this is how your council tax bill will change:
Band A: (reduced rate for disability discount): £1,096.60 to £1,140.35
Band B: £1,279.37 to £1,330.42
Band C: £1,462.13 to £1,520.47
Band D: £1,644.90 to £1,710.53
Band E: £2,010.43 to £2,090.64
Band F: £2,375.97 to £2,470.77
Band G: £2,741.50 to £2,850.88
Band H: £3,289.80 to £3,421.06
