Spring has been put on pause across large parts of Scotland today after a yellow weather warning for snow was issued.
Forecasters anticipate up to a foot of the white stuff to land in parts of Grampian and the Highlands from today until Thursday.
Scots in these areas have been warned of disruption on the roads and to public transport services.
Heavy rain and potentially gale force winds are expected to hit more widely across the country.

Temperatures are also set to plummet across Scotland, with many areas struggling in single figures later in the week.
Here is what we know about the weather conditions and when forecasters reckon the cold snap could end.
Exact time snow will hit Scotland

A yellow weather warning for snow has been in place for northern Scotland since 6am this morning.
Areas included in the warning are Angus, Perth and Kinross, Aberdeenshire, Moray and the Highlands.
The Met Office alert for the adverse weather will remain in force until 10pm this evening.
Forecasters warn that roads and railways are likely to be affected in these areas, with longer journey times expected due to the conditions.
“Persistent rain over northern Scotland will increasingly turn to snow over high ground during Tuesday morning, then to lower levels by the afternoon”, the Met Office writes.
“This is likely to bring some temporary accumulations in places to sea-level, with 2-5cm above 100-200m in places and perhaps 10cm above 300m.
“There is some uncertainty by Tuesday night but snow is likely to clear northwards and turn back to rain leading to some snow melt.”
When is the cold snap due to end?

The Met Office is expecting temperatures to return to normal across the country around mid-April.
In their long range forecast for the period between April 9 and April 18, it is likely to remain cold with wintry showers forecast for the north of the UK.
Conditions will remain unsettled with temperatures reaching the average for the time of the year towards the end of that period.
Temperatures could peak at around 16C in Aberdeen on April 20, according to WXCHARTS.
