The UK is currently on track to have its coldest May in 25 years but luckily we are finally headed for some summer sunshine.
Tomorrow capital locals can look forward to highs of 16 degrees and mostly sunny spells.
As we head into the weekend, Friday is to be a little overcast with temperatures of 16 degrees.
However, by Saturday, Edinburgh is to get hotter, reaching stunning highs of 20 degrees celcius with clear blue skies.
Although not quite as hot at 17 degrees, Sunday is also set to be a Scorcher, with the mini- heatwave looking to continue into next week as well.
The Met Office outlook for the rest of the week
Today:
A damp start in places but then becoming brighter with sunny spells developing. Scattered sharp showers in the afternoon. A warmer day for all with light winds. Maximum temperature 18 °C.
Tonight:
A dry night and most cloud clearing but mist and fog forming in places especially with the very light winds. Minimum temperature 5 °C.
Thursday:
Dry and bright with plenty of sunshine, a small chance of an afternoon shower but generally dry, feeling pleasantly warm. Maximum temperature 19 °C.
Outlook for Friday to Sunday:
A more settled and warmer spell of weather but some light rain creeping in from the west on Friday. Drier and brighter on Saturday and Sunday.
