The final week of December is the most popular week on dating apps, a new study reveals.
In fact, 8pm on Monday, December 27, is the most active time of the year, according to data from international dating app, happn.
The findings also revealed that the month of January holds the title for the most active month of the year.
With online dating becoming the most popular way to date nowadays, happn, which has 3.4 million users in the UK, shared that 340 million likes were exchanged on the app this year.
Users messaged each other more than 18 million times, with singles in London, Manchester and Birmingham generating the most interest.
And if your name is Holly or James, you’re the most likely to generate interest on dating apps.
Ipek Kucuk, Dating Expert, said: “Looking back on the last year gives singles a chance to understand how their dating life has evolved over time. For some this can be challenging, especially if their relationships haven’t been completely positive, however we cannot forget how important it is to reflect and learn.
“So, singles, what will you take forward into 2022, and what will you leave behind?”
Hopes were high at the start of the year with 45% of singles wanting to be in a relationship by the end of 2021. However seven in ten (70%) singles denied reaching their ‘love life expectations’ describing the year as ‘disappointing’.
Despite this, 45% of singles are still hopeful and on the hunt for a date that ‘never ends’.
Kucuk continues: “Whether you started this year single or not, what we do know is that more than 6 million of those looking for love Crushed on happn in 2021, so who knows what 2022 could bring!"
