With food prices and energy bills soaring, many of us are trying to save money anywhere we can.
Figures released earlier this year show food prices rose at an annual rate of 13.1% in August. Meanwhile, households across the UK throw away around £730 of food every year.
Experts have now revealed some fridge hacks to stop food going to waste, saving money at the same time.

For your food to stay safe and for the product to last longer, it is recommended to maintain your fridge between 3C and 5C. Experts at KJ Refrigeration also say freezers should be kept between -18C and -25C.
Milk is the most wasted food in the fridge due to its typically short shelf life and frequency of being used. You should store milk and dairy products in the fridge at 4C to extend their shelf life and preserve their flavour.
Milk and dairy products should be stored in the main compartment of your refrigerator rather than the door in order to prevent outside air from getting in.
Place a liquid, such as water, in the main compartment of a refrigerator for at least 24 hours, then remove it to check the temperature. The test should be performed with a liquid rather than a solid substance since liquids will cool at the same rate throughout rather than solids, which cool at different rates.
The air circulation in a fridge also helps keep food fresh and last longer, so keeping your fridge around 25% full will again help reduce the amount of food that is thrown away and allow you to keep food fresh for longer.
A quarter-full fridge keeps food cold for a longer period of time and saves you money in the long run.
