Exact reason why ITV2 Love Island contestants always wear sunglasses in bed

Throughout the years we have watched Love Island stars pick up similar habits while in the ITV2 villa.

One of those habits includes wearing sunglasses every morning in bed when they first wake up. Rather than going to brush their teeth or make breakfast, Islanders often grab their sunglasses first thing in the morning, despite being inside and in bed.

Their morning regime has caused quite a bit of confusion on social media, especially as some Islanders actually wake up wearing their glasses. After the last series, one person tweeted: "Why do they wear sunglasses as soon as they wake up #LoveIsland."

So, what is the reason behind the stars waking up in their shades after a deep sleep? One social media user hinted they could know the answer as to why they do this, according to OK Magazine.

They claimed past contestants have revealed it is because the bedroom light is very bright first thing in the morning. The Twitter user said: "Are the lights really THAT bright to be wearing sunglasses?"

Another asked: "Do these lot wear sunglasses when they wake up to hide their eye crust or what?? #loveisland," to which another replied: "I think it’s the bright lights in the bedroom."

Elma Pazar, who starred on Love Island in 2019 alongside Maura Higgins as a bombshell, also set the record straight on the habit. She replied to a fan: "The light is so bright when it flicks on and also I don’t know many people that wake up pretty in the mornings, the more of the face hidden before it’s washed the better," with laughing face emojis.
