Exact number of people admitted to hospitals with Covid across Nottinghamshire

The number of people being admitted to hospital with coronavirus has started to creep up, according to the latest data.

Figures from the two main hospital trusts in Nottinghamshire reveal that, in the week to October 31 (the latest available data), hospital admissions due to Covid-related complications increased on the week before.

It comes after health officials in the city and county said it is important the public "doubles down" on Covid-secure measures in a bid to avoid tighter restrictions over the winter period.

They say they are "absolutely intent" on avoiding the Government's Plan B, which could see more restrictions put in place over Christmas despite what they say are "enormous pressures" on healthcare systems.

But city councillors are arguing the need for a mask mandate as infections begin to rise in Nottingham.

The latest hospital admission data is published by the NHS each week, as below.

A breakdown of the number of daily Covid hospital admissions and diagnoses recorded:

It comes as more than 10 million people have received their Covid booster jab in the UK.

The Midlands region accounts for the most in the country, administering 1,552,387 top-up jabs.

Health Secretary Sajid Javid told residents to "not delay" getting their third vaccine.

He said: "Get your vaccines as soon as you can to protect yourself and your loved ones this winter so we can keep the virus at bay.”
