Exact locations of 6,888 new cases as infection and hospital numbers soar again

Ireland continues to fight against worrying Covid-19 trends which are seeing hospital and case numbers soar.

Another 6,888 new infections were announced on Sunday evening, a stark jump from the 4,842 confirmed on Saturday.

HSE chief Paul Reid warned that hospitals are coming under an increased strain as patient numbers spiralled again to 1,452. Of these, 125 were in intensive care.

The national 14-day incidence rate has also risen to a very concerning 1,291.2 per 100,000 population.

Health experts hope that Ireland will start to see the benefits of the latest Level Five lockdown sometime in the next week, otherwise even more restrictions could be enforced.
