Five areas have been hit by a surge in new Covid-19 cases in the latest figures released by the Department of Health today.
A total of 939 new coronavirus cases have been announced in Ireland, while three more deaths have been confirmed.
Dublin is once again the hardest-hit region in the country, with the capital recording 262 further infections.
This was followed by Cork with 96, while 61 new cases were reported in Meath, 53 in Galway, 51 in Donegal and the remaining 413 are spread across all remaining counties.

As of 2pm today 341 Covid-19 patients are hospitalised, of which 38 are in ICU. There has been 16 additional hospitalisations in the past 24 hours.
Of the cases notified today:
- 444 are men / 483 are women
- 66% are under 45 years of age
- The median age is 32 years old
