Exact location of today's 518 coronavirus cases in Ireland as two counties see alarming jump

Two counties have seen an alarming jump in cases over the past 24 hours as another 518 were announced today.

Covid-19 infections have exploded across the country in the past few weeks, with Ireland regularly seeing case numbers in the hundreds.

Today, Limerick more than doubled its amount of new infections, from 24 on Sunday to 49 on Monday.

Meanwhile, Meath saw an alarming jump from just five new cases on Sunday to 32 new cases today.

Elsewhere, Dublin saw an increase of 134 cases - 34 more than the 100 seen on Sunday.

Cork had 53 new cases - down two from 55 on Sunday.

But Donegal saw a small increase from 31 new cases on Sunday to 34 today.

Of the cases notified today;

  • 252 are men / 266 are women
  • 68% are under 45 years of age
  • 30% are confirmed to be associated with outbreaks or are close contacts of a confirmed case
  • 78 cases have been identified as community transmission
  • 134 in Dublin, 53 in Cork, 49 in Limerick, 34 in Donegal, 32 in Meath and the remaining 216 cases are spread across 20 counties
