Exact location of today's 430 Covid-19 cases in Ireland as two more counties move towards level three

Ireland has seen a large spike in coronavirus cases with 430 new infections confirmed by the National Public Health Emergency Team this evening.

Thankfully there were no new deaths but the figure is the largest daily rise in a single day since April.

Galway and Cork are both counties which have seen increasing cases in recent weeks causing concern for health chiefs.

Speaking on the alarming rise Acting Chief Medical Officer Dr Ronan Glynn said: "As we start into this new week, I am asking every household across the country to sit together this evening and make a plan to reduce the number of people you meet this week.

“We have absolutely no room for complacency. If every person, family, workplace and organisation does not play their part the situation will continue to deteriorate.

He went on to single out Donegal and Dublin which are both under level 3 restrictions as cases continue to soar in the two counties.

He said: “For people who live in Donegal and Dublin remember Government advice is to work from home unless it is essential to attend in person. For people living in these and all other counties, assume that COVID-19 is circulating in your community and act accordingly.”
