Exact location of today's 364 Covid-19 cases as four counties see worrying spike

Four counties have seen a worrying spike in coronavirus cases, new figures show.

A total of 364 new infections were reported across the country by the Department of Health today, with no further deaths.

Every single county saw a rise in the number of cases in the latest figures.

Dublin is once again the hardest-hit area in the country, reporting 100 new infections over the last 24 hours.

The capital is followed by Cork with 55.

While there was 31 new cases in Donegal, the other county that is currently under Level Three restrictions.

Elsewhere 24 infections were recorded in Limerick, 23 in Galway, 17 in Clare, 14 in Sligo, 13 in Roscommon, 10 in Kerry, 8 in Tipperary, 8 in Wicklow, 7 in Kildare, 6 in Kilkenny, 6 in Offaly, 5 in Cavan, 5 in Mayo, 5 in Meath, with the remaining 27 cases in 9 counties.

The National Public Health Emergency Team met today in a meeting chaired by the returning Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan.

Any recommendations from that meeting will be brought before Cabinet.

Of the cases notified today:

  • 195 are men / 168 are women
  • 74% are under 45 years of age
  • 27% are confirmed to be associated with outbreaks or are close contacts of a confirmed case
  • 42 cases have been identified as community transmission
