Exact location of today's 335 coronavirus cases as figures continue to fall

Another 335 cases were announced today, with a further five people sadly dying of coronavirus.

The latest stats show the cases of Covid-19 are spread around the country, though thankfully the numbers are lowering week-on-week.

Of the cases notified today, 72 are in Dublin, 41 in Donegal, 26 in Mayo, 25 in Cork, 23 in Kerry, and the remaining 148 cases are spread across 19 other counties.

The newest incidence rate table is below, with case figures for each county.

Of note, the cases total is lower than that of several previous Saturdays.

Last week, Halloween night, we saw 416 confirmed cases. Before that, October 24 saw 859 cases and October 17 saw 1,276 cases.

The overall incidence rate for Ireland has plummeted to 185.6 from 268.7 last Saturday.

Other stats from today:

  • 155 are men / 177 are women
  • 64% are under 45 years of age
  • The median age is 37 years old

As of 2pm today 284 Covid-19 patients are hospitalised, of which 40 are in ICU.

There have been 23 additional hospitalisations in the past 24 hours.

Despite positive signs emerging, earlier NPHET member Cillian De Gascun said it is too early to tell if Ireland will be in Level Two for Christmas.

The chair of the Expert Coronavirus Advisory Group said that while early signs are good, they hope to get the virus right down to double digits in terms of cases per day.

Speaking on RTE Radio One, Dr De Gascun said: "At this stage we don't know what level we are going to be at for Christmas, we are still six/seven weeks out so trying to predict where we are going to be(is difficult).

"The key message for people to take on board is people have done very well over the last two weeks, the case numbers are down, the incidence is falling, the R rate is below 1, that's a really good sign.

"The problem is we still have hundreds of cases per day, we still have over 300 people in hospital, we still have around 40 people in intensive care.

"To really suppress the virus we need to get numbers down below 100 and preferably low double digits."
