A further 217 cases of coronavirus were confirmed in Ireland this evening, the largest spike in several days.
Dublin saw the highest number of new cases, with a whopping 103 recorded.
Kildare has the second highest number but still lags far behind Dublin, with only 25 new infections after restrictions were lifted there yesterday.
Meanwhile Limerick and Tipperary have 17 each.
Waterford and Wicklow both recorded seven new cases each, while there were six in Clare and five in Louth.
The remaining 30 are spread across Carlow, Cavan, Cork, Donegal, Galway, Kilkenny, Meath, Monaghan, Offaly, Roscommon, Westmeath and Wexford.
Just over half of all the new cases (51%) are associated with outbreaks or are close contacts of a confirmed case while 19 cases have been identified as community transmission.
And 70% of cases were diagnosed in people aged under 45.
No new deaths were announced with the death toll remaining at 1,777.
Three previously confirmed cases have been denotified leading to a total of 29,025.
Dr. Ronan Glynn, Acting Chief Medical Officer, Department of Health, said; “While the number of cases today is the highest daily reported figure since May, the five day moving average remains relatively stable at 115 cases per day.
"However, this is still a substantial number of cases and I urge everyone to double down on their efforts now – wash hands regularly, physically distance from others, wear face coverings where appropriate, avoid crowded areas, know the symptoms, isolate and contact your GP if you have any concerns.
“Please continue to reduce your social contacts so that the virus does not get the opportunity to spread further.”
