Exact location of 379 new Covid-19 cases in Ireland

Dublin again saw a jump in infections as 379 new Covid-19 cases were announced on Wednesday.

Tragically, 12 more people have passed away after fighting the deadly virus.

Donegal still has the highest incidence rate in the country at 295.9, way above the national average of 119.9 per 100,000 population.

And Limerick also continues to see some worrying signs, with its 14-day rate at 237.0.

Of those included in the latest number of infections, 174 were men and 203 were women.

The median age was 36, while 64% of new cases were recorded in people under the age of 45.

Speaking about the latest figures, Chief Medical Officer, Dr Tony Holohan, said: “Today we sadly report over 2,000 deaths associated with COVID-19 to date in this country.

"This pandemic has impacted, directly and indirectly, on families and communities all across Ireland.

“It is important that we continue to work together if we are to suppress this virus and protect as many people as possible.

"For the next two weeks, work from home, stay at home and follow public health advice.”
