Exact location of 269 new virus cases as number of counties see jump despite overall drop

A number of counties saw a jump in case numbers today, while overall figures fell as Ireland recorded 269 coronavirus infections.

The latest figures, which tragically saw 18 people tragically reported dead as a result of the virus, were released by the National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET) on Tuesday evening.

The overall number of cases reported in Ireland now stands at 72,798, while the number of deaths has reached 2,069.

While several big counties – including Dublin, Cork, Galway and Limerick – all saw case numbers drop, several smaller counties had higher rates than Monday.

Kilkenny had 20 cases (up from nine), while Tipperary and Louth also saw a jump, with 19 infections recorded in both counties.

Ireland's current 14-day incidence rate per 100,000 now stands at 87, down from 89.2.

And our seven-day incidence rate is 39.9 – the lowest in Europe.
