Exact day warm weather and sunshine will return to Liverpool this week

Sunshine and blue skies are set to return to the region this week, but there will be some more rain first.

This weekend saw a mixture of weather, with overcast skies, and spotted showers.

The Met Office's early weather reports predicted the hot spell to last from July 19 until August 2 - with soaring temperatures expected in the south of England.

But the forecaster has more recently predicted mixed weather in its latest long-range forecast.

Today (Monday) is expected to be wet, though drier as the day goes on.

The Met Office forecast says: "Through the morning rain decays into scattered showers, these potentially heavy at times.

"These weaken into the afternoon, allowing sunny spells to develop. Mostly dry overnight, with clearer skies developing. Maximum temperature 19C."

From Tuesday to Thursday, the Met Office says, we can expect sunny spells on Tuesday, with a few lighter showers.

The forecast continues: "Dry and sunny on Wednesday and Thursday, though perhaps temporarily cloudy Thursday morning with occasional drizzle. Temperatures warming through this period."

And there's more good news - it's set to be hot and sunny as we reach the weekend.

Friday is predicted to see highs of 20C, while Saturday could see the mercury rise to 23C.

Both days are also set to be dry and sunny, with clear skies.
