Despite the predictions that Hogmanay is set to be one of the warmest on record in parts of the country, snow could fall shortly after.
Forecasters have hinted the white stuff is on the way just days after an African plume hikes up temperatures.
As we head into 2022, strong winds are expected to bring wintry showers between January 2 and 11, with more snow likely as we reach the middle of the month - according to the Met Office.
Exacta Weather forecaster, James Madden, predicts snow nationwide during the first half of January with the white stuff falling in the Scottish Highlands from January 3.
We are set to see a real change in conditions as we reach the end of the week - and the end of this year.
The Met Office has forecasted temperatures of up to 13C throughout Scotland on January 1, with pleasant conditions for Hogmanay as Scotland is to be dry and even sunny in some places with highs of 12C.
It will continue to feel pretty mild as we enjoy the first few days of 2022, with conditions turning more unsettled as thick cloud and heavy rain arrives.
Strong winds are also likely for much of Scotland as we finish the first week of January, with temperatures returning to normal for the time of year.
Forecasters expect 0C to 4C in much of the country.
During this time the most unsettled conditions will most likely be towards the northwest, and most settled towards the southeast.
