Exact date snow will hit region as UK braced for Arctic blast

The Met Office has issued an update on when wintry conditions could return to Merseyside.

Liverpool is experiencing a brief reprieve from the cold weather that battered the region over the weekend.

Temperatures will hover around 11C on Tuesday before dipping to lows of 4C in the evening.

The milder conditions are a welcome break from the frosty conditions that hit Merseyside due to Storm Arwen.

Although the temperatures will remain mild, the Met Office expect showery spells throughout today and tomorrow.

The rain is expected to subside on Thursday, but the prediction for the end of the week is a gloomy outlook as forecasters expect a band of rain and snow to hit the North West on Friday.

The full outlook for Thursday to Saturday reads: "Showers will ease on Thursday before a band of rain and snow sweeps through into Friday with strong winds.

"Further blustery showers on Saturday, some of which could be wintry."

The Weather Outlook's Brian Gaze said the sub-zero temperatures will hit the north of the country due to a cold Arctic blast.

He told the Express : "After a milder interlude cold Arctic air will return southwards during Wednesday and Thursday.

He continued: "Quite a widespread frost is likely on Thursday morning and showers increasingly turn wintry, particularly in the north.

"Through Thursday night and Friday it looks as though weather fronts will push in from the Atlantic bringing outbreaks of rain which could be preceded by a period of snow in central and northern parts of Britain."
