Exact date Liverpool's heatwave is forecast to end as rain begins

Liverpool has been experiencing a heatwave for over a week, with temperatures hitting 30c on several days.

There's hardly been a cloud in the sky with wall to wall sunshine something we've become accustomed to over the past few days.

But all good things must come to an end and the scorching temperatures are due to be replaced by rain later this week.

Monday is set to be another fine and dry day, but from Tuesday July 27 things are set to change, with showers predicted and temperatures falling away to the low twenties.

The unsettled theme will continue for the whole week, with a mixture of sunshine and showers predicted until Friday.

The weekend is currently forecast to be dry, but temperatures will continue to struggle to get above the high teens.

The forecast for the entire North West said: "Monday will have a largely sunny start, and sunshine will endure into the afternoon for most areas. A few showers may develop later in places, and these could be locally heavy.

"Tuesday will see some sunny spells, but frequent showers will develop in the afternoon, some very heavy and thundery.

"Low pressure will intensify to the north into Wednesday, and it will turn windier and wetter.

"Wednesday will see heavy, blustery showers for much of the day. Thursday could be even breezier with further frequent and blustery showers."

The Met Office long range forecast for Friday July 30 to Sunday August 8 predicts that the unsettled weather could stay for some time to come across the UK.

The forecast said: Remaining unsettled through much of this period, with most places seeing showers to longer spells of rain at times.

"These changeable conditions bringing outbreaks of rain and variable cloud amounts from the west, with the chance of heavy showers, perhaps thundery at times between any drier and sunnier interludes. Winds, at times becoming strong and blustery adding to the cool feel.

"From the end of next week through early August, we will likely see a continuation of mixed conditions bringing sunny spells and heavy showers, perhaps with some more prolonged rain at times. Southwestern areas possibly staying driest whereas the northeast may be wetter than usual. Temperatures are expected to be around or just below average."
