Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Dimitar Berbatov is expecting conflict between Mauricio Pochettino and Christian Eriksen.
The latter's future in north London is up in the air.
Following Eriksen's statement earlier in the summer in which he admitted he wished to seek a new challenge following six years at the club, there has been links to Manchester United, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Juventus.
A move to United didn't materialise before the Premier League transfer window closed, but there's still time for the European trio to seal a deal for the Denmark international.
Pochettino has already stated that Eriksen has been training normally amid continued speculation regarding his future, confirming there is no issue between the pair
However, Berbatov feels something is brewing behind the scenes between.
"This week Pochettino has expressed his disappointment with the transfer window being closed. It is a s*** situation," Berbatov told Betfair. "With Eriksen there is something going on behind the scenes that we don't see or don't know.
"I speak from experience. If there is a team as big as Real Madrid still going after him, of course his head is going to be messed up.
"In that situation you ask questions like if it is going to happen, do I want to go, am I going to play if I go there, what will happen if I stay, what will happen if I miss that chance - with all these questions in your head it can f*** up your game, all you training sessions, all your communication with your coach.
"I mean wow do you look at each other on the training pitch if you want to go and the coach wants you to stay?
"There is going to be some kind of conflict.
"At the same time if you are a coach and your player leaves but the season has already started you can't get a replacement so you are weaker.
"That is why Pochettino is mad, it's disappointing and I can understand that.
"It's a difficult situation from a player’s point of view to find the balance to do your job, stay concentrated and not pay attention if someone wants to sign you, but that is very difficult.
"For me the transfer window should close before the season starts, in England it does and that is a good thing.
"But then in other countries the transfer window is still open, some players can go now even though the English transfer window is closed.
"Everything should close before the season starts that way you have your team, your new recruits and then you start to play.
"The people in charge must come up with a solution because other teams can still come and take players from the Premier League."
