Ex-Thunder guard Sebastian Telfair sentenced to 3.5 years in prison for gun possession

On Monday, Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez released in a statement that former Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Sebastian Telfair was sentenced to three and a half years in prison for gun possession.

Telfair was convicted of gun possession in April after police found a loaded gun in his vehicle at a traffic stop in Prospect Heights, New York in the summer of 2017.

Gonzalez commented on the process conviction and sentencing processes:

This defendant exercised his right to a jury trial and was found guilty of possessing an illegal firearm. The mandatory prison sentence he received today is required by law and he has now been held accountable for the unlawful conduct.

Telfair last played in the NBA for the Thunder, signing with Oklahoma City in the summer of 2014; he played in 16 games before being waived. Telfair played with seven other franchises before joining the Thunder.
