Ex-Tennessee Titans employee files lawsuit against team after firing

Former Tennessee Titans employee, Paul Miller, has filed a lawsuit against the team alleging the franchise violated federal law when it fired him while  he was quarantining after contracting COVID-19.

According to The Tennessean, Miller’s suit, which was filed in U.S. District Court in Tennessee on Wednesday, claims the Titans violated both the “Family Medical Leave Act” and the “Families First Coronavirus Response Act” in 2020 following his firing on or around Nov. 20 while quarantining after contracting the virus on or around Nov. 11.

Miller, who was hired by the Titans back in 2019, served as a sports field assistant, helping with special teams and running backs during practices, and the handling of equipment for practices and games.

“We are reviewing the complaint, but can’t comment further on pending litigation at this time,” a statement from the Titans released on Friday said.

Miller is not only looking to get his job back, he also wants back pay and to be reimbursed for damages and attorney’s fees. The suit also aims to stop Tennessee from discriminating against employees on the basis of disability.
