Ex-Sunderland striker is a 'target' for Motherwell in summer swoop

Motherwell are reportedly interested in making a move for Queen of the South striker Connor Shields during the summer transfer window.

The 23-year-old has enjoyed a good season with the Dumfries club, netting 11 times, but Motherwell may face competition from Premiership rivals Dundee United, who are also believed to have sent spies to watch him at the Championship club, according to the Sunday Mail.

Dundee, who face Kilmarnock in the Premiership play-off final second leg tomorrow, with a 2-1 lead, are also reported to be interested in the Coatbridge man.

Shields started his career at Albion Rovers before moving to Sunderland in 2018, but a loan to Alloa Athletic followed, before he signed for Aldershot Town.

A further loan at Billericay Town followed, before he ended up at Palmerston Park in 2020.

However, he is currently out of contract at Queen of the South and is a free agent.
