Simon Grayson's time as Sunderland was particularly short. The former Leeds United, Blackpool and Preston manager was seen as the perfect option to win promotion back to the Premier League at the first time of asking in 17/18, given his record of winning promotions elsewhere.
However, he last only 18 matches at the Stadium of Light and was replaced by Chris Coleman, who was unable to stave of Sunderland's relegation to League One. Grayson has now revealed that he has been in discussions with a team abroad, in a bid to relaunch his career after he left Fleetwood earlier this season.
"The club approached me about this job," Grayson said on the Sacked In The Morning Podcast. "But it's not close to home. it is quite far away."

Grayson did not reveal who the club were or which country they were based in. He was clear that this was a meeting to get to know one another, rather than a clear offer of a job:
"The club got in touch with me through my agent and then we set up this Zoom call this morning and went through the process of me getting to know them and them getting to know me.
"It is something I have been looking into. Do I want to broaden my horizons in a different country?"
