Ex-Strictly's James Jordan shaving his hair off for charity after dad's tragic death

James Jordan has revealed he is shaving his hair off to help raise money for charity after his beloved dad Allan's death last month.

Former Strictly Come Dancing star James has been growing out his long hair in lockdown, and he announced on Instagram he will be shaving his head later in the month.

He is raising money for The Brain Tumour Charity, as Allan was diagnosed with a terminal brain tumour in 2020 after suffering from a series of strokes.

He wrote: "Would mean the world to me if you support @thebraintumourcharity in memory of my father ALLAN JORDAN.

"I will be shaving my hair completely on the 13th April, one week before my father’s funeral. PLEASE GIVE WHATEVER YOU CAN".

James, who is married to Strictly star Ola Jordan, added: "Brain tumour treatments haven’t moved on in 30 years and that has to change.

"Brain tumours are the biggest cancer killer in children and adults under 40 but out of 600 million pounds raised in the UK each year less than 3% is spent on this cancer."

In the video he explained his fundraising plans, and said: "I haven't been on social media for quite a long time because unfortunately my father passed away on March 13th, and I've been totally devastated.

"I did try to do this video before, but I wasn't able to because I was too upset, but now I feel the time is right, so please bear with me," he added.

James explained his father's cancer diagnosis and how his family "watched him slowly disappear".

"A brain tumour takes away that person's identity a lot," he said. "I don't want any of you guys to go through what my father went through and what my family went through."

He revealed he felt "superstitious" about cutting his hair while his dad was still alive, which is why it grew out so long, coupled with lockdown.

"It looks pretty bad, it's pretty long, I am going to shave it off totally, and I want to raise as much money as I can," he said.

Announcing the heartbreaking news on 13 March, James wrote: "My dad became an angel at 8.05am. I will forever miss him. My dad will always be my HERO. RIP Daddy."

James had changed his profile picture on Friday night to one of himself with his arm around his dad while they were on holiday.

He had written: "No one should have to go through what my family are watching my dad go through I pray to God that you come soon and make him one of your angels.

Earlier in the month, James broke down on Loose Women as he spoke about the "horrendous time" his family were having, as his father was in hospital at the time.
