Ex Strictly judge Darcey Bussell gives her verdict on 2019 series

Former Strictly Come Dancing judge Darcey Bussell given her verdict on the 2019 series and told fans it gets a big thumbs up.

The shows kicked-off properly on Saturday night with new judge Motsi Mabuse joining the panel to replace the ballet legend.

Uploading a snap of herself outside the Royal Academy of Dance in London, Darcey, 50, gave her opinion on the changes.

She typed: "Big congratulations to @bbcstrictly on a FAB-U-LOUS first show - it’s going to be a fantastic series.

"Best of luck to all the team, thinking of you all. Dx #keepdancing ."

In the image, the lithe star could be seen smiling as she threw a thumbs up to the camera.

The dancing sensation was dressed in form-fitting black leggings and a black T-shirt.

Darcey's kind words come after her former colleague Craig Revel-Horwood threatened to quit the hit dancing competition.

The 54 year-old played down the importance of the dance show to his life, after lamenting the orders he receives year in year out to rein in his opinionated attitude.

Craig dished: "Every year I get told to tone it down and I don't listen. Of course I won't be toning it down this year.

"I'm going to be just like I've been for 16 years. I'm not changing for anyone, if that's the case I'd rather not judge it. It will never work, darling. I've got too much of a big mouth."

Later he added: "It's just a Saturday job, Monday to Friday I choreograph and dance, but Strictly is a very small part of it.

Craig Revel Horwood recently threatened to quit the show if he was asked to tone down his comments (BBC)

"We're all dispensable, I expect they would replace me with someone else. It's not me who has gone onto 56 countries worldwide, it's the show and the format."

His remarks come after he was told off for a joke about last year's Strictly champ Stacey Dooley , who is now in a relationship with her professional partner Kevin Clifton .

Craig can be heard saying on tape: "Stacey was dragged up from the dance gutter, of course, if you sleep with your dance partner that helps."

He apologised for the judge, and it was rumoured that some professionals were furious about it.
