Ex-staffer lodges revenge porn complaint

A former Morrison government staffer sacked for masturbating on a female politician's desk has filed a police complaint alleging he is the victim of revenge porn.

The staffer was sacked on March 22 after footage of the incident was aired in media reports.

ACT Police on Thursday confirmed officers were looking in to the matter.

"ACT Policing received a report on 30 March 2021 in relation to the unauthorised sharing of intimate images at Parliament House," the statement read.

"At this time, officers are engaging with a complainant and completing an assessment of the report.

The man's dismissal came amid uproar over the treatment of women in politics, after a series of high profile incidents.

Assistant minister Michelle Landry at the time expressed sympathy for the man.

"The young fellow concerned was a good worker and he loved the place," she told reporters outside Parliament House.

"I feel bad for him about this, but it's unacceptable behaviour by anyone and it should not happen in workplaces like this."

However, Scott Morrison described the actions as "disgusting and sickening".

"The people who come to work in this building are better than this," the prime minister said.

The footage obtained by Channel 10 involved four coalition staff members, which Finance Minister Simon Birmingham said the government would weed out.
