Former Tottenham Hotspur forward Darren Bent believes a breakdown in trust between Jack Clarke and Marcelo Bielsa could be the reason the youngster's career has stalled at Leeds United.
The 18-year-old completed a £10million deal to take him to the North London club this summer before being loaned back to the Whites in order to secure regular first-team football.
But Clarke, who made 25 appearances for Marcelo Bielsa's side last season, hasn't played a single minute for the Elland Road club in the Championship this season.
And Bent, speaking to Football Insider , believes the England Under-20 international may have returned to the club with the wrong attitude.
He said: “With Bielsa, if you look at Bielsa’s teams, he needs to be able to trust you. If he doesn’t trust you, like at the minute a bit with Jack Clarke, I think Bielsa feels he can’t trust him.
“I’m sure everyone thought, and I’m sure he would have thought: ‘Right, I’ve got my move to Tottenham, I’m guaranteed now a starting role in the team.’ Maybe he want back there with the wrong attitude.
“It’s really surprised me, I thought he would kick on this year.”
