Ex-Spurs star issues Hazard, Modric & Kroos warning to Christian Eriksen amid Real Madrid links

Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen continues to be linked with a move to Real Madrid but one former Spurs star has offered up a stark verdict on what he should do.

The 27-year-old has starred for Spurs since making the switch from Ajax in 2013 and his fine form has led to speculation aplenty about the Denmark international's future.

Real are in the midst of a huge summer transfer window overhaul and plan to add a midfielder before the start of the next La Liga season.

Eriksen has been linked and so has Manchester United star Paul Pogba, though the Tottenham playmaker would be the much cheaper option for Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane.

Former Spurs defender Pascal Chimbonda has since provided his view on the situation.

He insists that Eriksen must leave for the sake of the club and the player, though he does believe that the Dane wouldn't break into the Real side if he left for Madrid.

"It’s in Tottenham and Eriksen’s best interest for him to leave the club this summer," Chimbonda told Sportingbet.

"Eriksen won’t play in Real Madrid’s first team, but it’s the price he will have to pay for trophies.

"Madrid have too many world class players in the form of Hazard, Modric and Kroos, who will all get ahead of him on the team sheet.

"Madrid is a massive club and there is no room for players to have an off day. If Eriksen has a dip in form, another player will be waiting to come in and take his place, which isn’t the case at Tottenham.

"It’s a massive step for him, but one he needs to take."
