Ex Spurs midfielder hits out at Arsenal's transfer business so far this summer

Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jamie O'Hara has hit out at Arsenal fans for gloating over their side's summer transfer window business.

The Gunners have so far signed William Saliba, Dani Ceballos on loan from Real Madrid, while Nicolas Pepe has also joined Unai Emery's side in a club record £72m deal from Lille.

Fans are thrilled by the arrival of Ceballos and Pepe, but O'Hara, speaking on talkSPORT , has opted to take a different view and believes that the north London club have actually been weakened by their transfer business.

“Everyone is getting a little bit carried away, saying it’s their best transfer window…

“Look, Pepe is a very good player but he’s not proven in the Premier League, and they’ve signed Ceballos from Real Madrid but they’ve lost Ramsey and he was a big player for them.”

Before the 32-year-old went on to add: “I think Ramsey has gone to a better club in Juventus and he’s gone for ambition, it’s where he wants to be to win trophies. I don’t think that’s going to happen at Arsenal.

“They’ve needed to strengthen at the back.

“[Laurent] Koscielny wants to leave and he’s their captain, so where do they stand now?

“You have to build from the back. They need a left-back and they need a centre-half and their club captain doesn’t want to be at the club!”
