Ex-Spurs defender considers Arsenal move as Italian giants eye Bernd Leno transfer

Welcome to our football.london Arsenal media watch piece. Maybe not the first, we've definitely done transfer round-ups before, and European round-ups, so I guess in some ways it's not that new at all. Anyway, we thought we would enter the world of football in a broad and roundabout manner for you and have some fun with some of the stories and captions doing the daily rounds.

Sambi makes senior international debut

Albert Sambi Lokonga made his international senior debut for Belgium on Thursday evening, coming on in the 73rd minute as Roberto Martinez's side waltzed away in a 5-2 victory against Estonia in the World Cup qualifiers.

The 21-year-old midfielder has already impressed in the early stages of his Arsenal career after joining from RSC Anderlecht for £18 million this summer.

Lokonga started the opening pair of Premier League fixtures for the north London side, and despite uninspiring defeats in each, Arsenal fans saw the young Belgian as the club's beacon of hope.

Aurier considers Arsenal move

Serge Aurier would consider joining Arsenal having just been released from his contract by north London rivals Tottenham, report the Express.

The 28-year-old, who joined Spurs in 2017 from Paris Saint Germain for £22.5 million, made 110 appearances for the Lily Whites and was often a common feature in north London derbies.

However, despite the alienness of the potential deal, Arteta was believed to be in the market for a right-back this summer before the arrival of Takehiro Tomiyasu from Bologna on deadline day.

Sky Sports report that Tottenham had explored all avenues trying to help Aurier seal a move away from the club in the transfer window, but were unsuccessful in their attempts.

The Ivorian is a free agent after his contract was mutually terminated and is keen to stay in England.

Inter Milan eye Bernd Leno

Inter Milan have shortlisted Bernd Leno as a potential replacement for Samir Handanovic, according to Tuttosport, as the early ramifications of Aaron Ramsdale's arrival set in.

The Serie A champions are becoming increasingly concerned with their goalkeeping situation following a series of errors by the 37-year-old shot-stopper, with the most recent proving costly against Hellas Verona.

Simeone Inzaghi's side have identified Leno, as well as former Arsenal target Andre Onana, as potential successors to the Slovenian international.

Leno's game time at the Emirates is under threat after Arsenal's disappointing start to the season, which has seen him concede nine goals in three games.

Ramsdale, who joined the Gunners on a £25 million move from Sheffield United this summer, impressed on his debut against West Bromwich Albion in a rampant 6-0 Carabao Cup triumph and has provided healthy competition between the sticks.

Elneny handed setback

Mohamed Elneny has been ruled out of Egypt's World Cup qualifying clash with Gabon following a minor injury that was picked up in a behind-closed-doors friendly versus Brentford, football.london understands.

The 29-year-old midfielder endured a muscle injury that put him on the sidelines, before our chief Arsenal correspondent, Chris Wheatley, reported that it was not serious.

Elneny, who arrived at the Emirates in 2016 from Basel for around £11 million, has featured twice this season for Arsenal but has failed to become the saving grace amid the side's dwindling form.

He spent last season on loan at Turkish outfit Besiktas and has been linked with a return move ahead of their September 8th deadline, but Arsenal have no plans to let Elneny leave, football.london understands.
