Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jermaine Jenas believes his former club would be making a big mistake if they allowed Christian Eriksen to leave this summer.
Although the Premier League transfer window is shut for business, some European clubs can continue to sign players until September 2.
Eriksen is into the final year of his current contract at the club and he is yet to sign a new deal amid interest from Real Madrid.
Spurs could still sell the playmaker before the window closes rather than lose him for free next summer but Jenas thinks this would be the wrong decision by the club.
Speaking on BBC Radio Five Live's Friday Night Social, he explained: "If they let him go it's a massive mistake in my eyes.
"With Eriksen they are a shoe-in for the top-four and the Champions League. You need to look at the financial implications.
"The only reasons they have been able to make all of these bids and go for players like Coutinho and Dybala is because of how far they went in the Champions League and the financial gain from that.
"Losing Eriksen puts that in the balance.
"Keep him and if you have to let him go for free at the end of the year then obviously you do that.

"But the financial gain of being in the Champions League balances that out.
"If they can, you sign him up and give him more money to get to the end of the season.
"And then try to form some form of agreement between Eriksen and the club which says sign for one more year, we'll definitely let you go and there will be a fee at the end of it."
