Sagan Tosu has acquired Fernando Torres, a former Spanish international who contributed to the national team winning the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, the J.League's top-tier club announced Tuesday.
The 34-year-old player, who has long been Spain's ace striker, will wear the No. 9 jersey at the J.League club.
Torres has belonged to Europe's elite clubs, including Spain's Atletico Madrid, England's Liverpool and Italy's AC Milan.
He joined the Spanish national team in 2003 and played at three consecutive World Cups through the 2014 Brazil tournament.
