Ex-Southampton star signs for Motherwell

Motherwell have strengthened with the addition of English midfielder Callum Slattery on a permanent three-year deal.

The 22-year-old has joined from Southampton for an undisclosed fee, and will wear the No.16 jersey this season.

Slattery spent time on loan at Gillingham in England, and De Graafschap in the Netherlands before joining the Fir Park club.

Motherwell boss Graham Alexander told the club's website: "We’re delighted to bring Callum to our club. He’s a young player with so much potential and we believe he’ll add real quality to our midfield.

Graham Alexander said he hopes to bring a couple of players in ahead of the league kick-off (SNS Group)

"He’s already played in the Premier League, and we know he can be a real asset for us on the pitch.

"We’ve been speaking with him for a while now, and it’s great that we finally have him here."

Slattery, who came through Southampton's youth academy has been capped at various youth international levels by England and was part of the team which won the Toulon Tournament in 2017.

Pending international clearance, Slattery will be available for today's Premier Sports Cup clash with Annan Athletic.
