Ex-Seattle Seahawk arrested for DUI with wife Hope Solo in car

Jan. 20--Jerramy Stevens -- the former Seattle Seahawk and now husband of soccer star Hope Solo -- was arrested Monday on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol in Manhattan Beach.

Police said that Solo, the goalkeeper for the U.S. national soccer team, was in the car at the time.

Stevens, 35, of Kirkland, Wash. was stopped about 1:30 a.m. by a Manhattan Beach officer who noticed the former football player was driving without his headlights on, Officer Stephanie Martin said in a statement.

Stevens was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving and later released with a citation and is scheduled to appear March 19 in Los Angeles County Superior Court.

The couple has been the subject of controversy over the past couple of years.

Solo, a two-time Olympian and former contestant on "Dancing With the Stars," was arrested on domestic violence charges last year, and then in July issued a public apology to fans.

She had been accused of assaulting her sister and nephew.

In November 2012, Stevens, who was her fiance at the time, was arrested on suspicion of assaulting her, but he was never charged.

The couple later married.

Stevens was drafted by the Seahawks in 2002, where he played until 2007. He went on to to play for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
