A former scout troop leader has been charged with child abuse offences dating back to the 1980s after a two-year investigation.
The 62-year-old man was arrested at Dean Park, in Sydney's northwest, on Tuesday before being charged with a series of offences spanning a period of more than two decades.
Police said local detectives launched an investigation in August 2021 after receiving reports that a man had sexually assaulted a teenage girl between 2005 and 2006.
The officers were later told about several alleged acts of indecency committed against four young boys while the man was a scout leader between 1980 and the mid-1990s.
The man was charged with sexual intercourse without consent, three counts of indecent assault on a male and one count of inciting a person under 16 years to commit an act of indecency.
He appeared at Blacktown Local Court on Wednesday, when he was refused bail to reappear in Penrith Local Court on December 1.
