A former Scots police chief turned creepy choirmaster who used a hidden camera to spy on a naked young woman in the shower has died.
Andrew Russel passed away at home in Peebles on Saturday, June 12, according to the Scottish Police and Community Choir, which he previously helped run.
The 52-year-old was convicted of voyeurism at Edinburgh Sheriff Court in 2015 after planting a modified thermometer in the bathroom of a flat he rented out during the Fringe Festival.

The woman, from Singapore had been looking for accommodation during August festival season in Edinburgh in 2014.
Russel, who used to run a Police Scotland choir, offered her a room in one of his properties and even sent her various newspaper articles to prove that he was a police officer
The former chief inspector was rumbled after the female guest noticed what appeared to be a broken thermometer in the toothbrush holder.
The woman was horrified when a closer inspection of the gadget revealed a tiny camera aimed at the shower and checked the memory card.
She discovered five video clips, including one of her naked.
After confiding in a friend, the victim packed up her belongings and left the flat.
She later reported Russel, a married dad-of-two, to police before returning home.
Russel, who left Lothian and Borders Police before committing the offence, was placed on the Sex Offenders Register for six months after pleading guilty.
He initially claimed his visitor was motivated by revenge after he spurned her sexual advances.
The creep alleged she and tried to set him up with the device that belonged to her but later stated that he found it at another property and kept it.
Confirming Russel’s death, the Scottish Police and Community Choir said: “In the early hours of Saturday 12th June, our former Musical Director, Andrew Russel, passed away at home."
