Ex RTE host Louise McSharry enjoys sun holiday after shock 2FM departure

Louise McSharry is taking a well deserved break after announcing her departure from RTE's 2FM.

The radio presenter is enjoying a sun holiday in Tenerife with her friends, leaving her husband and children at home.

Louise revealed this is her first holiday on her own since becoming a mother and she's enjoying having some time to herself.

She posted on Instagram: "I’m on a proper holiday on my own with a couple of pals. It’s the first one of these since I became a mam five years ago. It. Feels. Incredible.

"I can’t tell you how many 4:15/4:30/5AM wakeups I’ve gotten through simply by thinking of this trip. It’s five nights which will be deeply restorative for me and a blip on my kids’ radar.

"Make time for yourself, fellow mams. It’s essential. And you’ll be a better mam for it."

While on her sun holiday, Louise shared details of her stylish sunglasses and beautiful swimsuit, which was made from recycled materials.

She posted: "Just very happy thanks. (Sunglasses are @quayaustralia, I’ve been buying from them for years but these were gifted, their specs are such high quality and they have great styles, swimsuit is @batoko and made out of recycled rubbish. I’m wearing an XL which is their biggest size unfortch, I would say it would comfortably fit up to a 20 and be a bit small but ok on a 22-24 like me!)"

However, It's not all sun and sand for Louise, as she admitted that she's still working while on her holidays.

She shared on her Instagram stories: "I realise I look smug but I've actually been in a mega stress all day about a work thing so truly there is no rest for the wicked."

The radio presenter announced she was leaving the station two weeks ago after 11 years with the broadcaster.

2FM listeners were shocked by the news and the host told her fans that it wasn't her decision to end the show.

Speaking on Instagram stories, she explained: "Lots of people have been asking me if I’m on this weekend. I’m not. I thought I was going to be but then they decided I shouldn’t be, so I’m gutted about that.

"This wasn’t my call, but I’m honestly okay. This has happened to me before, it’s the nature of the beast, it’s the industry I’m in."
