A former Premier League referee boss claims the turning point in the season came when Vincent Kompany was not sent off for a two-footed challenge on Mohamed Salah.
Keith Hackett, who led the Professional Game Match Officials Limited from 2004-2010, tweeted to criticise referee Anthony Taylor's decision not to show a red card to the Manchester City captain for the tackle in the 31st minute at the Etihad in January before they went on to win the game 2-1.
Liverpool only lost once in the 38-game Premier League season - during that game to the eventual domestic champions - and finished second with a record-breaking 97 points, one behind Pep Guardiola's side.
The turning point in the Premier League title was decided in the Man City v Liverpool game. 31st minute when Kompany went in from distance with two feet off the ground on Mo Salah. Anthony Taylor failed to red card the offence! City won 2-1

At the time of the challenge Liverpool fans took to Twitter to bemoan the lack of a red card for Kompany midway through the first half at the Etihad.
The City centre-back was only cautioned by referee Taylor after leaving the floor with an aggressive challenge in an attempt to stop Salah from breaking clear.
It was a strong tackle that felled the Egyptian forward, but official Taylor opted for a yellow card only as Kompany protested his innocence.
