Former referee Bobby Madden has weighed in on Kelechi Iheanacho's disallowed goal for Celtic against Braga.
The striker saw his effort denied in the second half of the Europa League contest at Celtic Park for a handball offence.
Replays looked inconclusive, with pundits Joe Hart and Chris Sutton left stunned at the decision.
However, Madden has now backed the decision as he revealed a key factor in the decision-making process for the match officials.
The former Scottish Premiership official explained that referee Tobias Stieler did not spot the handball but it was raised to his attention by one assistant and fourth official Timo Gerach.
According to Madden, the referee then disallowed the goal with the on-field decision given as a handball and the goal chopped off.
Therefore, VAR could only overturn the disallowed goal if they had clear and obvious evidence to prove there was no handball offence.

Madden posted on Instagram: "Vorsprung durch technik 🇩🇪
"Should never doubt German efficiency!
"Best to clear things up:
"Referee did not see handball.
"Assistant and fourth official(with exceptional eye sight) advise referee of handball.
"Referee allows play to continue and goal is scored, in line with protocol.
"Goal is then disallowed on field for handball.
"VAR reviews all images to find angle where contact occurs. There is no clear evidence to say it didn’t so goal stands.
"Top officials and top VAR operator, I didn’t expect them to get that wrong."
